Super easy no-knead bread

Very simple to make, delicious bread with a crispy crust

Equipment

  • 1 big bowl
  • Big spoon for mixing
  • pastry board or countertop
  • baking paper
  • cast iron Dutch oven

Ingredients

  • 3 cup strong wheat flour (type 650)
  • tsp instant yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • cup warm water

Instructions

  • Add all dry ingredients into a bowl and mix. Pour warm water and mix with a large spoon (or by hand) until there are no traces of dry flour in the dough.
  • Cover with plastic wrap or a damp kitchen towel and leave to rise overnight (if you start in the evening), or for all day (if you start in the morning).
  • Place the cast iron pot in the oven and heat to 230℃ for at least 30 minutes. The pot should be really hot.
  • Gently place the risen dough on a board or countertop sprinkled with flour, lightly gather it into a ball shape. Place it on baking paper with the smooth side up.
  • Remove the pot from the oven and carefully place the bread into it, holding by the baking paper. You can put 2-3 ice cubes between the paper and the pot wall for extra steam.
    Bake for 30 minutes covered and 15 minutes uncovered, until the crust is beautifully golden brown.
